What's inside
How much does one bar of your soap really cost? This Soap Making Pricing & Profit Calculator turns your oil, butter, lye, fragrance and packaging prices into an exact cost per bar. It then suggests retail and wholesale prices and shows the profit you keep.
What it does
- Ingredients tab: enter each pack's price and size (g, kg, oz or lb). The cost per oz or gram is calculated automatically
- Recipe Oils tab: list the oils, butters and additives of each batch by weight. You see each oil's % of the recipe and the NaOH it needs
- Lye (NaOH) amount and cost are calculated from SAP values and your superfat. Water comes from your water:lye ratio, and fragrance or essential oil from your % of oils
- Batches tab: batch cost, cost per bar (materials, packaging, labor, overhead), suggested retail and wholesale prices, marketplace fees, profit and margin per bar
- Cure-time tracker: pour date + cure weeks gives a "Ready to sell" date for every batch. The Dashboard shows batches still curing, the next ready date and bars ready to sell
- SAP Reference tab with typical NaOH SAP values for 20 common oils and butters
- Dashboard: averages, margin alerts, cost-vs-profit chart, cost breakdown pie per bar, and a monthly profit goal planner

FAQ
Is this a lye calculator?
No. It is a costing tool. It estimates lye amount and cost from typical SAP values so you can price your bars, but you must confirm every recipe in a dedicated lye calculator and follow lye safety rules.
Does it track cure time?
Yes. Enter the pour date and cure weeks for each batch and the Dashboard shows which batches are still curing and when they are ready to sell.
What exactly do I get?
One .xlsx spreadsheet file, delivered as an instant download link after payment. Nothing is shipped.
Does it work on a Mac or iPad?
Yes. Open it in Excel for Mac, Apple Numbers, or Google Sheets in your browser or the Google Sheets app on iPad. No macros, so nothing is blocked.
Can I use it in Google Sheets for free? Do I need Excel?
You don't need Excel. Upload the file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets, which is free with a Google account. It also works in Excel 2010 or newer, LibreOffice and Numbers.
